On October 28, 2005 the day care students from the Wallace Bernard Memorial Center went to the offices in Membertou for their annual Trick or Treating.
Everyone looked great in their costumes and looked as though they were having fun. Hope they all enjoyed their Halloween and their treats.
See all of you next year.

November 22, 2005 was a very exciting day for those students chosen to participate at the Mi’kmaq Speech Festival that was held at the Wagmatcook Cultural Center. Students from Membertou, Eskasoni, Wagmatcook, and We’koqma’q First Nations were in attendance.
The children read aloud their speeches for those of us that were present and also for those who attended via Video Conferencing.
Everyone here is a winner in the sense that all win when these children speak with great confidence a language most can not. I was very impressed and proud of all the students who attended. Excellent job kids, keep up the good work for future generations.

Recently Sister Dorothy Moore was awarded theOrder ofCanada.
Membertou Elementary School held a general assembly where students and staff had the oppourtunity to congratulate her and show her our appreciation for her on receiving such an award.
This also gave us the oppourtunity to thank her for being such a great supporter for our school. Thank you Sister.

Aliant Phones Donated a bullying book to Membertou Elementary School. The book is called “Jo Jo Na Bully” and a copy was given to all students. The book was also translated into three languages: English, French and Mikmaw.
