Levi Denny is from Eskasoni First Nation and very proud to be Fluent in Mi’kmaw. Levi is the proud Husband to Shelley Denny and father to Cayden Rose, Levi Jr aka Bigguy and Isabel and grandfather to his pride and joy Leighton.


Levi has participated in sports his entire life and sports are a way of life for him. Sport has shaped his way of life and has made it his life long goal to ensure that sports are safe and inclusive for everybody to enjoy.

Having gone to NAIG for 5 games as mission staff, Levi will be the Chef De Mission for Team Mi’kmaq NS at the 2023 NAIG game in Halifax. He has a very strong relationship with Sport NS and its Provincial Sport Bodies and is currently a Board Member for Sport NS. One of Levi’s passions is hockey and he can be found in almost every rink in NS. Because of his love for hockey and the drive to make hockey enjoyable and inclusive for everybody, Levi was an original member of Hockey NS Diversity and Inclusion Task force and is extremely proud of the work that has and continues to happen. Levi is also currently on the Board of Hockey NS Minor Council. Levi has been part of Team NS and Team Atlantic at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships for 17yrs since 2002.


Levi has also been on the board of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Summer Games since 2010 to present and Coordinator for two Eskasoni Games. He is also a member of the Tripartite Sport and Recreation Committee Representing the Union Of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq. Coaching is also a passion and great joy for Levi and he has been recognizes as being named NS Mi’kmaw Coach of the year for 9 yrs.


Levi’s new role at MK Sport and Language and Culture is to continue to improve the lives of all Indigenous People in NS through Sports and Recreation and encourage our  youth to be positive contributing members to our Mi’kmaq Communities.
