Miranda Bernard is an Early Childhood Education Consultant with Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey, where she supports the development and advancement of early learning and child care programs across Mi’kmaw communities. She holds a Master of Education from St. Francis Xavier University, an undergraduate degree from Cape Breton University, and a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Her work focuses on strengthening culturally grounded programming, supporting educators, and helping to build systems that reflect Mi’kmaw values, language, and ways of knowing.

Miranda leads and coordinates a range of initiatives, including professional development opportunities, conferences, and resource development that are responsive to the needs of communities. She collaborates with partners and stakeholders to enhance quality, promote best practices in early childhood education, and support pathways for growth in the sector.

She is passionate about creating inclusive, nurturing learning environments where children, families, and educators feel supported and empowered. Miranda is dedicated to advancing early childhood education in a way that honours culture, strengthens identity, and contributes to the overall well-being of Mi’kmaw children and their communities.

Outside of her professional work, Miranda enjoys spending time with her husband, Al, their two sons, and their seven grandchildren.
