2025 Graduate Interview - Elenie Paul

What is your name, age, school, and what community are you from?

My name is Elenie Paul. I’m 18 years old attending Allison Bernard Memorial High school and I am from Eskasoni First Nation.

What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?

I was a part of the girls basketball team and the track team. Throughout the year I also tutored students in the after-school program. I also have been dancing competitively for 14 years.

What’s your favourite subject in school?

My favourite subject in school is Calculus.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?

I would go to the Maldives because the scenery and beach look amazing.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, attending dance class with my friends, and playing sports.

What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?

After I graduate, my plan is to attend Cape Breton University for my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After that I plan to work for a year and then apply to Medical school at Dalhousie university and become a Doctor. I want to specialize in Cardiology, Anesthesiology, or Family Medicine.

What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?

In the ten years, I see myself working as a Doctor. I want to improve the quality of life in those who need it and treat others. I want to make a positive impact in society by impacting others and communities through medicine.

Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?

Yes, my mom. She is very hard working but is always there for her family and others.

What is your best memory from your high school years?

My favourite memory throughout high school has to be being in a class with all my friends, making memories and jokes.

What is the best thing about your school?

The best thing about ABMHS is the principal Newell and her staff. They make sure they are always there and involved in a students education, overall keeping everyone motivated.

Who has made an impact on you?

The principal and staff at abmhs made a positive impact on me.

Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?

We live in a great community that offers a lot all year round. I’m excited about the youth centre that will be built soon.
