What is your name, age, school, and what community are you from?
My name is Isabel Denny, I am 17 years old, I attended Allison Bernard Memorial High School, and I am from Eskasoni First Nation, but am a band member of Potlotek First Nation.
What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?
I was recently involved in the girls basketball team and the season before I was involved in the boys high school hockey team.
What’s your favourite subject in school?
My favourite subject in school had to have been math class because I was always in it with the best people and teacher.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go to some place down south where I can relax and enjoy the beach.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to go shopping or out to dinner with friends or my boyfriend.
What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?
My plans for when I graduate is to attend NSCC for practical nursing then to future my studies in becoming a registered nurse.
What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?
In ten years from now I would hope to see myself being the best nurse I can be for my community.
Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?
I do have a role model, my mom Dr Shelley Denny. I never once saw her give up on anything or anyone, she always gives her all in everything she does for herself or someone else.
What is your best memory from your high school years?
My best memory is when my friends and I were in the same English 10 class together, we picked on our teacher Liam everyday because he picked on us everyday.
What is the best thing about your school?
The best thing about my school are the teachers and especially our principal, Newell Johnson.
Who has made an impact on you?
My teachers definitely made a good impact on me throughout my years in high school.
Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?
Something I’d like to see in our community is a new gym, one that’s bigger so that people would be more comfortable with starting the gym. A bigger gym with more machines would mean less crowding and more people getting out of their comfort zones.
Do you have any words of advice, a personal favourite quote, or a thank-you?
My words of advice is to always be kind to others, it could always make someone’s day.
