2026 Graduate Interview - Dashawn Johnson

What is your name, what school do you attend, and what community are you from?

My name is Deshawn Johnson and I go to EAEC/A and from Paqtnkek Mi'kmaq Nation.

 

What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?

 I am apart of Jr Chief and Council, Antigonish Minor Hockey, I am a multi sport athlete.

What’s your favourite subject in school?

Probably Netukulimk or Mi'kmaq Studies.

 

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?

 I would go to Alaska, because of the salmon, glaciers, snow, and bears. I would really like to go hunting.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to video games and hangout with my friends.

 

What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?

 I plan on attending NSCC in the fall for Electrical, I chose that because I enjoyed the electrical unit in my construction class.

What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?

Hopefully living comfortably.

 

Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?

 My role model is my grandfather, he enjoys the same things as me, fishing, fixing cars, he is fluent in Mi'kmaq, and practices Mi'kmaq traditions. He is really a Jack of all trades.

What is your best memory from your high school years?

Playing school sports.

 

What is the best thing about your school?

We are all close knit but we also all have our own unique differences.

 

Who has made an impact on you?

 My auntie Dee, she pushed me to get the things I needed done, and put me on track in the right direction.

Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?

 More access to sports for the youth.
