What is your name, what school do you attend, and what community are you from?
My name is Suri Paul, I am attending Allison Bernard Memorial High school. The community I am from is Eskasoni.
What’s your favourite subject in school?
My favourite subject in school is Music, growing up I’ve always been connected with music but being in music classes in high school I learned deeper into music and music theory, along with great music teachers who believed in me and my talent.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
If I were to go anywhere in the world it would have to be Japan because it is so beautiful.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to do my nails, sew, and go walking.
What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?
My plan after graduating is to attend NSCC for cosmetology to express art through beauty. I have always wanted to become a cosmetologist.
What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?
In ten years, I see myself having my own cosmetology business, and having a small shop in Eskasoni offering services. I also see myself continuing music as it’s played a big part in my life and has so much meaning to me.
Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?
My role model is my Dad, Victor Denny. He is my role model because he is the most hardest working man I’ve ever met, he’s always determined and hopeful. There isn’t anything he can’t do, I aspire to be like him.
What is your best memory from your high school years?
My best memory from my high school years would be meeting my now best friend Mia Gould, I am so grateful to have been in the same class as her because she truly is the best person ever.
What is the best thing about your school?
The best thing about my school would be our principal Newell Johnson, she brings so much life into our school and is always understanding and very caring.
Who has made an impact on you?
Laura Wrathall has made an impact on me because she was such an amazing teacher and has helped me so much in her math classes, I was truly confident in math while being her student. She has the kindest soul ever and any student would be lucky to have her as a teacher
Do you have any words of advice, a personal favourite quote, or a thank-you?
I would like to thank Melissa Campbell for guiding me throughout my high school years, she has always been there for me and helped me since we’ve met, even when I wasn’t a student in her class she would still guide me into what’s best for me. I appreciate everything she’s ever done for me and will miss being her student.
