Eluskinikn Project

All grade 9 students were given the opportunity to participate in making Eluskinikn over March Break. We purchased all the supplies for Eskasoni Market for 67 students. Bessie Prosper Jr made a video with her grandmother Bessie Prosper Sr. The language of instruction was in Mi’kmaq. Tina Baldwin created a handout that went along with this for reference. We were able to upload the video on our ABMHS youtube channel and directed all the students to watch the video, make their eluskinikn and submit a project to their grade 9 specialist teaches (Phys Ed, MKL 9, Tech 9 and Health 9). All the grade 9 specialist teachers created a rubric to mark their students' projects.

Lottie Johnson and Rita Gould conducted the Medicine Pouch Making project with all the grade 9 students using Google Meets. Lottie was not able to come to the classroom so we used Technology to access the workshop, and coordinate it for students in person and those who were at home.

Ernest and Mildred Johnson joined our grade 9 classes and shared some stories with our staff and students. They shared the history of Eskasoni, sharing stories of their childhoods with respect to farming and everyday chores. We were able to record these sessions and upload them into Google Classroom where students can access them if they were not able to make it.
