Question with a Graduate - Loukas Clair

June 13, 2022

What is your name, age, school, and what community are you from?

My name is Loukas Clair, I am 18 years old and I go to ABMHS

What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?

I played on the high school hockey team.

What’s your favourite subject in school?

My favourite subjects are English, math and yoga.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?

There are many places I wish to see, but New York is one that stands out. I'd want to go to Times Square, maybe in the winter to experience the snow and the atmosphere.

What do you like to doin your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy going on walks and hikes, working out, and learning new things.

What are your plans for when you graduate, and why? What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?

After graduation, I intend to pursue a master's degree in business administration. In ten years, I envision myself as a successful businessman. I'm not sure which path I'll choose, but real estate has always sparked my interest.

Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?

I choose myself because I am someone I admire and in all aspects of my life I look for qualities such as passion and the ability to inspire, a clear set of values, a commitment to community, selflessness and acceptance of others and the ability to overcome obstacles. I never found those qualities in anyone or people that I know as of now.

What is your best memory from your high school years?

I have many great memories, but one of my favourites is when the dance crew visited our school and spoke about racism and empowerment.

What is the best thing about your school?

The best thing about my school are the teachers and staff.

Who has made an impact on you?

Many people have had an influence on me throughout my life, and I feel this is what has shaped me into the person I am today. However, I believe Tina was the one who had the most impact on me in high school. She has supported me in learning more about myself, my health, yoga, and self-love and care.

Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?

I'd like to see more activities, more sports, encouraging and helpful teachers that genuinely want you to learn, and more discussions on mental health and your future, in the future.

Do you have any words of advice, a personal favourite quote, or a thank-you?

"You don't have to be positive all the time. It’s  perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having  feelings doesn't make you a negative person, it makes you human."  -Loukas Clair
