2025 Graduate Interview - Raidence Young

What is your name, age, school, and what community are you from?

My name is Raidence Young, I’m 17 years old, a grad student at Alison Bernard memorial high school, from Eskasoni

What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?

I stay lunch hours at school for activities

What’s your favourite subject in school?

My favourite subject at school is Mi’kmaq Language because it teaches us a lot of traditional ways and things  in our culture 

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?

I would like to China, and go to all the Disney worlds in the world. 

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to go for drives, hang out with my friends and walking at goat island 

What are your plans for when you graduate, and why? 

I’m taking my academic and career connections at NSCC and going to CBU for nursing.

What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?

I see myself helping people with health problems. I would like to see myself as a nurse. 

Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?

Yes, my role model is my mom and my sister because they encourage and support me to keep pushing through school and help me bestest they can. 

What is your best memory from your high school years?

My bestest memory is my grad trip with my friends because they made me have the most fun I had in awhile. 

What is the best thing about your school?

The best thing about my school is there’s so many support and people who can help you when you’re struggling with anything. 

Who has made an impact on you?

My sister, because she treats me so good, and would do anything to see me happy, she’s a good mom and sister.

Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?

Maybe a cafeteria because theres people who go home for lunch and didn’t eat

Do you have any words of advice, a personal favourite quote, or a thank-you?

Don’t be a follower be a leader.

And nothing is impossible.
