What is your name, what school do you attend, and what community are you from?
My name is Charity Bernard, I attend We’koqma’q Mi’kmaq school, and I am from We’koqma’q
What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?
I have played competitive club volleyball for 4 years, one year with Cape Breton volleyball the remaining years with Inverness raiders. I have also been competing in track and field for 4 years. Completing my final years in both sports this year.
What’s your favourite subject in school?
My favourite subjects are all science/ math related subjects, with a special spot in my heart for treaty Ed/social studies, as I am also very passionate about my history and the way our world works.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
If I could go anywhere it would be Greece, I just think the architecture and culture there is beautiful.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
When I get the chance I love to read, and write. I also love going for runs, and listening to music.
What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?
I plan to continue my education at Dalhousie University for engineering, then pursue a job in a space related field.
What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?
Beginning my career as and astronaut, or a mother
Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?
My role model is my mom, she is the strongest person I know and I aspire to have even half the strength she has
What is your best memory from your high school years?
Making it to track provincials for the very first time in grade 11 for javelin
Who has made an impact on you?
My friends, they have had such an influential impact on me and the person I’ve become
Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?
More sports at school and more community events

“Carpe diem” - seize the day.
