What is your name, what school do you attend, and what community are you from?
My name is Julia Elizabeth Dennis, attending Allison Bernard Memorial High School from Eskasoni.
What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?
I am involved with interact club, girls softball team, and the girls basketball team.
What’s your favourite subject in school?
My favourite subject is art.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
i like to spend time with my siblings or my friends either going to the movies, mall or just driving around listening to music.
What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?
After i graduate i will be attending Cape Breton University for my bachelor of social work and then hope to attend St. Francis Xavier University for my masters degree. i want to become a social worker because i want a career where i can support others and be someone others can turn to when they need it.
Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?
i can’t just choose one so, i would have to say both of my older sisters Patsy and Eliza. because Patsy has helped me through so much during high school, being one of the best basketball coaches i’ve had, helping me learn from my mistakes, and always showing up for me and other players. Eliza has also helped me through so much, and inspires me in so many different ways with everything she does, she also inspires me to keep going and to work hard in school.
What is your best memory from your high school years?
The best memory from my high school years would have to be spending every day with my friends, and the friends I made throughout high school especially while playing on the basketball team.
What is the best thing about your school?
The best thing about my school are all of the opportunity’s it has given me. my favourite would have to be attending the career fair, trades fair, and traveling to Florida our grad trip.
Who has made an impact on you?
My grade 9 teacher Carol Ann Jeddore has made a big impact on me because She always encouraged me and believed in me to do my best even when I didn’t believe in myself. and I’ll always be grateful for everything she did for me all throughout high school.
Do you have any words of advice, a personal favourite quote, or a thank-you?
My advice is to never give up, even when things get hard, and to always try your best.
