2026 Graduate Interview - Nevaeh Paul

June 8, 2026

What is your name, what school do you attend, and what community are you from?

My name is Nevaeh Paul. I attended and soon to graduate from Allison Bernard Memorial Highschool. I’m from Eskasoni, Nova Scotia.

What clubs, teams, or groups are you involved in at school, and after-school?

I used to be on the basketball team.

What’s your favourite subject in school?

My favourite subject is English.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?

If I could go anywhere in this world, it would have to be Bora Bora. Me, my mom, and stepdad would always joke about how this place was our dream home. If I were to get a chance to travel to see it for not only my eyes but for Shishy.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I spend a lot of my time making art. Whether if it’s doing my makeup, picking up a pencil, or if I am taking pictures.

What are your plans for when you graduate, and why?

The plans for after I graduate are to move to Halifax, Nova Scotia. In September, I will be attending NSCAD majoring in photography. I will be working to get my Bachelor of Arts, I am so excited for this journey. Why? Because this is something I’ve always dreamed of. I’ve always had an interest for photography, it all started with my first iPod touch. I practiced taking pictures of my friends, family, or cousins. I loved the idea of Nature Photography while also loving wildlife photography like National Geography. I find all photography so beautiful, it captures SO many different things. You just need to have the right eye for it.

What do you see yourself doing ten years from now?

In 10 years I see myself becoming a successful Photographer. Opening my own business and becoming my OWN boss.

Do you have a role model? If so, who? And why?

Yes, my role model is my mom. Why? Because she never EVER gave up. Even when the world was SO heavy, and it felt like it stopped turning for her. She still got up and got through her day. She will forever inspire me. She is the sweetest and the most strongest woman I know. She taught me how to pick myself up no matter what life throws at me.

What is your best memory from your high school years?

The best memory from my high school years, was surprisingly my freshman year. The last year we were all innocent. It was so full of life. We were so young with no cares in the world.

What is the best thing about your school?

The best thing from my school is how understanding and supportive our peers are.

Who has made an impact on you?

The teachers that made an impact on me were Liam, Jonathan, Todd, Donnie, and Laura. And most importantly Newell.

Is there something you'd like to see in your school or community that isn't there now?

A community bank. I just did a project on this in tourism 12, we all talked about how it would SO convenient to have one here in Eskasoni so we wouldn’t have to travel off reserve. We named it Suliewey Community Bank and it was located near Kiknu.

Do you have any words of advice, a personal favourite quote, or a thank-you?

The pain you’re feeling won’t compare to the joy that’s coming. Romans 8:18
