STEM update

Jennifer Sawler, our new STEM mentor took part in a STEM and Netukulimk workshop on Saturday April 28th for grade 6-8 students and their teachers put on at CBU by IslandWISE. The event involved 3 activities about trees and plants in our forests. Stephanie Bernard and a student from We’koqma’q were also able to attend. Teachers and students from Potlotek and Pictou Landjng were also invited but couldn’t make it this time around.

Jen has been in contact with most of the grade 8 teachers in MK schools - and will be with all of them soon. There will be another workshop on June 3,4 with MK and an environmental group called the Clean foundation for all grade 7 and 8 teachers from all MK schools. If anyone has questions or requests about STEM, Jen can be reached at any time at jen@kinu.ca / 902-574-5230
