March 25, 2026

Grade 12 students from MI'kmaw communities across the province gathered at the Inverary Inn in Baddeck in early March for a meaningful and memorable “Coming to Circle” experience. The weekend brought students together to learn, connect, and celebrate culture in a supportive environment.
Guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, students participated in a variety of ceremonial and cultural practices. These included a naming ceremony, talking circles, and teachings that helped deepen their understanding of traditions and community. Students also had the opportunity to experience a resiliency workshop and play Waltes.
Alongside these enriching experiences, there was plenty of time for fun and connection. Activities like bingo, swimming, and simply spending time together allowed students to build friendships and enjoy each other’s company.
The weekend was a powerful blend of learning and laughter, leaving students with lasting memories, stronger connections, and a deeper appreciation for culture and community.
