Christmas at MK

This year we celebrated the season by decorating our doors, having our annual cookie exchange, and having theme days like the grinch day, festive wear and more! We kicked off the season with one of our favourite events - our annual online concert. We had many beautiful submissions from our schools across the province and their music put us all in the Christmas spirit! You can watch our concert on our youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu6eLqHCCp8

Tech Services

The recently formed SPRINT (Sharing Peer Resources and Integrating New Technology) group met in Dartmouth on December 13. We had representatives from almost all communities.

They spent the day planning quick and simple sessions they can share at their schools. Watch for Technology Lunch and Learns, or other forms of in school sessions at your school in the new year.

Miss Elles class in Sipekne'katik received a “Beaver Bot” as part of the Robotics and STEM kits being slowly rolled out by Elementary Tech Integration. They had fun making their own reindeer for the holidays while learning the skill of “wood cutting” safety.

We also have some exciting news to share from our Elementary Technology Integration Consultant Kim MacKinnon. She along with Jenna Pierce from Paqtnkek, and Tiffany Gould and Cindy Bernard from We'koqma'q were all accepted into the 2026 Apple Distinguished Educator class!

Elementary Mathematics

The L'nuimk classrooms are now set up and all teachers can now access the assessment portal!  Kyla Bernard, our Elementary Numeracy Consultant spent an afternoon at LSK to begin math aliet assessment training.  The students were engaged and had so much fun interacting with Aliet and friends.
