Student Services
Our student services team has been offering many different opportunities for teens who are diverse learners in Eskasoni. One of their March activities was Glow Bingo, held at the Eskasoni Wellness Studio. Students enjoyed the Glow vibe and played for some awesome prizes.

Mi'kmaw Language and Culture
The final gathering of the Mentor Apprentice group took place in March. This gathering was an opportunity for the program participants to share the struggles and successes they experienced during the program.
Treaty Education
A group gathered on March 28 and 29 to discuss and plan the revitalization of the Speakers Bureau program. Participants from across the province, representing a variety of organizations, took part in a facilitated session led by Victoria Labillois. Together, they explored what the Speakers Bureau could look like moving forward and how it should function. The weekend was highly productive, marked by strong engagement, enthusiasm, and a shared commitment to advancing the program’s future.

Early Childhood Education
During the last week of February, a few of our daycare and head start managers took part in the LOVIT Way Training, which is an incredible, culturally grounded evaluation tool designed specifically for Indigenous Early Years programs. It was a three day process that provided a culturally relevant and inclusive framework that helps ensure our programming continues to be the very best it can be for our children and communities. We are so proud of everyone who took the time to take this training.
Post Secondary
Our Post Secondary team held an Elders and iPads session at the Wagmatcook Elders Centre on March 26th. Melissa Reid and Aiden Johnson facilitated the session with 10 elders from Wagmatcook who received new iPads and learned some of the basic skills for using iPads including how to set up an Apple ID and downloading apps. They also held a session in Bear River on March 31 with the elders there.

Our Board of Directors had the opportunity to sit down with the Presidents from several Nova Scotia Post-Secondary institutions this month. This meeting was an opportunity for both groups to begin relationship building. The intention was to put faces to names and to open the door for further conversations in the future with regards to the success of Mi'kmaw students who attend Post-Secondary schools across the province.

Our Post secondary team coordinated a Learn to Fly Fish workshop this month. The workshop was open to high-school students from across the province. They had a fantastic day out at Castle Bay beach learning the skill and all participants took a rod home with them.
