GOLD MEDAL CHAMPIONS ~ School Sport Nova Scotia Highland Region Middle School Girls "A" Congratulations to Eskasoni Middle School Girls “A” Basketball Team on bringing home the championship gold! Your teamwork, determination, and heart on the court make us all so proud.
Participants from Eskasoni Elementary took part in a hands-on, land-based learning experience, snaring a rabbit with support from Jordan Marshall and Tony Sylliboy of the Eskasoni Fish and Wildlife Land Guardians.
Back at the school, students gathered in the Healing and Wellness Room, where Tony led the skinning process, sharing traditional knowledge and techniques. Land Based Coordinator, Kate Jadis spoke about respecting the animal, using all parts, and giving thanks, while Jordan Marshall and Jan Marshall helped slow cook the rabbit and prepare stew.
The goal of this learning experience was to reconnect students with their cultural roots, teaching traditional skills, respect for the land, and gratitude so these teachings can be carried forward into the future.
