Students in grades 7 to 12 at Wagmatcookewey School learned how to play the snow snake game this month. John Dennis came into the school to facilitate the workshop. Snow snake is a traditional Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) winter game played on a long, straight track made of ice or snow. The object of the game is to throw the snake as far as possible, while keeping it on the track and avoiding obstacles. The students had so much fun learning about the game and making their own snakes.
