September 22, 2025
This September, we kicked off the school year by celebrating the people who work in Education across the province. We wanted to make sure they realize how much we appreciate all they do for the students. Our staff at MK took some treats to each of the communities, along with some gifts for teachers and EA's as a small token of our appreciation.
Post Secondary
Our Post secondary department had a busy summer offering programming and camps across the province. One of the programs they offered was a 6 week summer student job placement program. As part of the program, Melissa Reid our Adult Education consultant, put a graphic facilitation workshop for the students. The goal of this workshop was to create a shared vision, identity specific goals and timelines , and develop a concrete plan with defined actions and resources.
On July 17, the Post secondary team coordinated an eel skinning workshop at the Jane Paul Centre. Michael R Denny taught the participants about katew and how to skin and prepare them.
Another program coordinated by the Post Secondary team over the summer was the MED/DVS course for Adult learners. This program was offered for 2 weeks in the community of Wagmatcook and the second half was held at NSCC in Port Hawkesbury. Students were required to attend both sessions in order to attain their certificates.
