Grade 8 classes in three of our schools have completed the Mi'kmaw Marathon club! The clubs require the students to run or walk the distance of a marathon (42.2 km) over 30 days, and also has them research and learn about 3 Mi’kmaw teachings. This included Keskemsimk, Pe’tlan, and Apiksk’tuaqn. They engage elders and knowledge keepers on the terms and share knowledge with the group. It was very well received and Tex Marshall, who came up with the program, is excited and looking forward to delivering the program to remaining MK schools in the spring.
