Post-Secondary Student Conference Brings Learning, Wellness, and Fun to Truro

February 2, 2026

At the end of January, post-secondary students from universities and NSCC campuses across the province gathered in Truro for an engaging and supportive Post-Secondary Conference. Open to students currently enrolled in university or NSCC, the weekend focused on wellness, practical life skills, and connection.

The conference kicked off with services designed to help students feel their best, including barbering, haircuts, and brow services. Students were also welcomed with MK swag bags filled with toques, snacks, shaker cups, and other goodies. That evening, participants took part in a student panel featuring older post-secondary students who shared helpful tips, tricks, and advice drawn from their own experiences.

Day two brought students to the NSCC Truro Campus, where they participated in a variety of hands-on workshops covering topics such as budgeting, wellness, and goal setting. To support students beyond the weekend, each participant received a slow cooker to take home and use in their daily lives.

Saturday night offered a chance to unwind and have fun, with students choosing between attending a lacrosse game or staying back for a lively bingo night with some great prizes. The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with a lesson from Gerald Gloade on Apuknajit, a water ceremony with Dorene Bernard and some door prizes.

It was a fantastic weekend filled with learning, laughter, and making new connections, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it such a success.
